What does self love mean to you?

I’ve learnt that self love is about rising above your insecurities and imperfections that make us unique and beautiful in our own rights.

Caring for ourselves and taking time for things that make us feel good and enable us to re-tune with how we're feeling is an essential part of this and being fulfilled and happy with who we are is never going to be passive or easy but we work and get better at it.

It’s so incredibly important to work on it because it impacts everything in our lives, from how we think and feel to how we behave and what we believe we can accomplish. It influences our self confidence, esteem and worth - which together, with self love are critical elements to growing into our optimum, authentic selves.

As a busy women, how do you weave self-love rituals into your life?

I know that without my little rituals and time I do not perform as well at all and I don’t like the mental space that I shift into. I see this time as essential so even if life gets in the way I am sure to make up for it as soon as I can. I take some time for mindfulness each morning, attend a class or run 3 or so days a week and love my dog walks with music. Self care moments don't have to be anything drastically excessive but these little things make a difference and allow time to reflect and re-centre.

What would be your top 5 tips for looking after yourself?
  1. Eat well and intuitively
  2. Move and listen to your body
  3. Do things that you know make you smile and laugh
  4. Value your time and energy - care about what you spend it on and who you spend it with. Don’t surround yourself with people who pull you down
  5. Don’t discount how important your sleep time is for your mind and body
What mantra do you live by?

Many! Something is lost and something is gained in living every day so I strive to embrace opportunities and live with gratitude and good intentions.
